Grover’s Pub and Grill…Again!

Guten Tag all!  I hope this “Frakenstorm” hasn’t negatively affected you as it has been quite dreary.  Anyways, like our last post mentioned, Mrs Fressen and I just got back from a wonderful shopping trip in Buffalo New York.  There were many deals to be had and we took full advantage of them, even knocking a few people off our Christmas list (Christmas already, crazy!).  Anyways, those that know me and follow this blog know that Mrs Fressen and I just love finding restaurant gems in cities that we travel to.  We are avid follower’s of Guy Fieri’s TV show, Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives, collectively known as Triple D.  Anyways, any trip to Buffalo requires a stop at Grover’s Pub and Grill, home of the world’s second best burger (best one is Le Tub in Hollywood Beach Florida).  We did a quick review of Grover’s a few months back (here) but this one will include more and better photos.

After a long day of shopping the Fashions Outlet of Niagara Falls, Mrs Fressen and I were famished and looking forward to a nice, big burger at Grover’s.  The 30 minute drive from the shopping plaza to Grover’s seemed like an eternity, but we did make it in the end.  Much to our surprise and relief, the parking lot wasn’t full.  We quickly parked our car and scampered in to put our name on the chalkboard (they take no reservations and is a first come, first served attitude).  We were seated within five minutes, a first for us at Grover’s.  Without really looking at the menu, we placed our order and waited 15 long minutes.

Mrs Fressen, in true form, ordered the cheeseburger with the works.  She requested her burger cooked a nice medium to medium well and the kitchen cooked the 12 ounce Certified Angus Beef patty perfectly.  Since this wasn’t her first rodeo at Grover’s, Mrs Fressen quickly and expertly divided her mammoth burger in two.  The smile on her face told the entire story: Mrs Fressen was in a state of bliss!  And yes, a serving plate was used to bring out the burger..and only the burger.

The world famous Grover’s Cheeseburger

Thick and Juicy Burger.  The burger is 12 ounces of Certified Angus Beef and as thick as 1.5 inches

I ordered the bacon cheeseburger with the works.  I prefer my burger, when from a known and reputable restaurant, cooked a nice medium rare so that it gets the nice outer char but the meat is still juicy.  As usual, mine was cooked excellent as well.  The Certified Angus Beef was tender and full of beef flavour!  The bun supported the burger and juices perfectly.  Thinking of that juicy hamburger puts my salivary glands in motion.  Much better than any offering found in the GTA including Burger’s Priest and Five Guys.  An excellent burger that will conquer many people!

Just to add to the insane amount of food, Mrs Fressen and I split a basket of french fries and onion rings.  They are a nice compliment to the burger and ensures that we put the burger down from time to time!  Nothing special about either the french fries or onion rings, but they are quintessentially a part of the American burgers and fries experience.

I don’t know how Grover’s makes money on serving quality beef in Flintstone like portions at rock bottom prices, but they do.  If you get a chance to visit Buffalo, Grover’s is a must!  Just remember, put your name on the chalkboard or you could be waiting a while.
